The Quantum Scientist will join the UK Science team to develop the next generation of quantum computers by validating and optimizing system performance, designing experiments, and developing novel control schemes.

Requirements & Eligibility
- PhD in physics or a related discipline
- Strong foundation in atomic or qubit-related physics
- Proven expertise in experimental AMO physics or quantum computing
- Hands-on experience in calibration, benchmarking, or coherent control of qubits
- Experience with trapped ions is beneficial
Key Responsibilities
- Prototyping and characterising coherent control and cooling schemes for trapped-ion qubits using laser and microwave fields
- Calibrating and benchmarking quantum systems, focusing on achieving the highest fidelities for quantum circuit primitives and full circuits
- Validating emerging trap technologies, including integrated electronics and photonics for large-scale architectures
- Analysing experimental data, debug complex hardware/software interactions, and ensure reliability of qubit operations
