Overview
The IRAP Staff Attorney will provide deportation defense in immigration court, handle affirmative immigration matters with USCIS, represent clients in family court proceedings, and engage in holistic advocacy.

Requirements & Eligibility
- Admission to the New York State Bar or eligible for admission
- Commitment to low-income communities and social justice
Key Responsibilities
- Provide deportation defense in immigration court before the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR)
- Handle affirmative immigration matters with USCIS including asylum applications, family-based petitions, naturalization, VAWA self-petitions, and U/T visa petitions
- Represent clients in family court proceedings related to Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJS)
- Work closely with staff social workers to provide trauma-informed representation and holistic advocacy
- Conduct intake, community education, and community outreach
- Collaborate with other LSNYC attorneys and advocates on cross-unit and cross-borough projects
- Partner with community-based organizations on campaigns and projects
