Overview

We are looking for an experienced Member of Technical Staff-3 (MTS-3) to join our Prism Engineering team to drive the design, architecture, and implementation of critical components within the Prism control plane.

About Nutanix

The Prism team is responsible for Nutanix's core management and control plane. We build the distributed systems that power the Nutanix hybrid multi-cloud experience, enabling seamless management of infrastructure, virtual machines, and clusters.

Requirements & Eligibility

• 4+ years of professional software development experience building backend systems or distributed applications.
• Proficiency in Golang is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in one or more of Java or Python is highly desirable.
• Experience building REST APIs and/or gRPC services is a must.
• Good understanding of Linux/Unix fundamentals, multithreaded programming, networking concepts, and debugging tools.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain backend services and platform components within the Prism control plane.
• Design and implement robust, secure, and performant RESTful APIs that serve both internal components and external customers.
• Develop scalable and reliable distributed system components while learning and applying best practices around consistency, availability, fault tolerance, and observability.
• Architect and improve critical system upgrade paths, ensuring resilient and seamless deployment workflows across distributed clusters.
• Independently own the implementation and delivery of medium-sized features from design through testing and production readiness.
• Write comprehensive unit and integration tests, participate in code reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to improving service reliability and operational excellence.
